🇺🇸 San Diego, CA - 02.11.24
It appears San Diego is one giant super suburb… all of it… but with diversity… and a pleasant demeanor… and the people have a bit of style. If you’re saying, “heyyyy… I live in the suburbs AND I have style!” First… I’m not an expert on the subject and I don’t know what I’m talking about. Second… you don’t… you live in the burbs… accept it.
Anywho, it’s pretty tranquilo and there’s not much edge here… even downtown. I saw a little bit of an edgy scene on 10th and Broadway… but that’s it man. Total PG-13 unless I’m missing something… and that’s just fine. I think one could easily get lost in the comforts of daily living here. Not a bad gig.
Speaking of downtown… the airport is smack in the middle. I read that it’s fine where it is because it’s convenient. Totally works for me. I was off a plane and snoring in about 20 minutes. They apparently don’t have scheduled departure flights between 11:30pm and 6:30am. Again… it works. It is a little wonky though to watch a plane coming in scraping the downtown office buildings. 🛩️🛬🛫🏬🏢
There’s a lot of tasty taco shops here. A lot! There’s a taco shop next to another taco shop… and those two are inside a bigger taco shop. 💙🌮 What’s not to love about that?
My low-grade chest cold I picked up in Hawaii has turned into an unpleasant sinus infection. Now… I can spend $350 for clinic visit in lovely CA… or $450 worth of travel expenses to come back to Denver for one Dr’s appointment. So… instead I’ll just whine about it… and hit another taco shop.
I’m jumping on a train in a few days to Kerouac up to Los Angeles to see what the hub bub is all about. I think I’ll see if I can get myself cast in an alka-seltzer commercial so I can make enough money to fly back to Albuquerque to retrieve my car. Then drive alllll the way back to the West Coast… via Mexico City. It’s a good plan.
My adventure pod was approved today for the border Sentri/Global Entry… now I can boogie back and forth from Mexico in my car and smuggle in papier-maché supplies and cheap avacados. Chévere!!!
If you have some mail for me to forward - meet me in Coyoacán and I’ll tell you how to take a bus from San Diego to Tijuana International to fly to CDMX r/t for $131… as soon as I figure all that out.
🇮🇹🌮🌮💟🙏🤗
