Touchdown Berkeley - San Francisco & Haight Ashbury (Day 1) - 11.12.22

one dive visit on Haight Street

Touchdown Berkeley, CA… I was through here in flash last April. Also, a little bit of exploring in Oakland on that trip, and the words, somewhat surprisingly that came from my brain and mouth hole were, “I could totally live here!” It was said at least three times and ”3” is the magic number. There’s a song about that and everything.

So this happened… and that happened... and some other stuff… and then the decision was made to come to the West Coast. And with great intention. Bring the car, outdoor gear, art supplies, hockey gear, a motorcycle helmet, all of my cool Gen X jackets, and one beautiful 2 foot Dharma Chakra teaching Buddha. Explore the Bay Area with a set home base and flow with and listen to the universe… and enjoy the process.

I have a house share apartment in SouthWest Berkeley for a month, so I have time to settle in and wear down those emotions of new exciting things that I so love. Ummmm… there’s MF’n palm trees on my deck!!! I don’t even think I’ll tire of that!! The hood has a peaceful urban vibe, there’s a Blick’s Art Store near, the Sawtooth Studios, tons of public transportation, a 10 minute walk to the bay, 25-30min drive to the ocean, and corner markets, restaurants and grocery stores that have ALL of the snacks I like like.

There’s much to process before any hard decisions are made but I think it’s going to be difficult to find a more suitable spot than Berkeley.

Anywho, I hit the ground running and drove over the I-80 bridge thingy the next day. I’ll pay your MF tolls, San Francisco!!! I have no license plate on the front of my car because in NM it’s not required and they could give the slightest of shits about such things… so, I’m not sure if the Fast Trak toll camera caught my car. “Look SF! I’m brand new!”

I parked my Colorado car on a steep hill near Golden Gate park and strolled… and waited to hear the sweet song that brought me here on this day. Lots of people watching, tons of smiles, and a sunny breezy day. And there she is…

Ms Campbell found me wandering aimlessly and our day began with much exploration of the area by her direction. Lots of chats, and walks through the park, the De Young observation deck that had a view that was out of this world (the De Young is on the list of Museums that I have a picture of myself standing in front of when it was closed)… a break into the city for delish pizza snacks and as the sun set… one dive joint on Haight Street for a nice rounded day of adventure in SF.

Many 💙 and 🙏 and 😘 for my lovely companion… and I’m resisting falling in like like with the Bay Area before I give it the total once over. Today is some routine and I plan on driving 40 minutes North up the 101 to buy a vintage typewriter table. I’m buying furniture, Epstein!!!

If you noticed on the list of things I brought, included one motorcycle helmet but no motorcycle… yes… I’m not complete at this moment. Not complete at all… 🚫🏍🫤
