Ogden, Utah - Land Mermaids and Funky Spirals - 08.19.22
An unusual and unpleasant circumstance resulted in me throwing out my adventure bag in a Nevada gas station dumpster, which unfortunately had most all of my clothes in it. I landed in Ogden, UT with an official case of road burnout.
While I’m hold up in Ogden I had the extra time to explore. My friend was kind enough to take the day off and play adventure tour guide and it was a full and fulfilling day at that.
Downtown Ogden treats, the Botanical Gardens, a Stump Spring for the public to get water, a lovely Victorian tour that has local Utah Artists show up that was very impressive, PineView Reservoir, we crashed the 29029 event at SnowBasin Resort, and then onto the Ogden Canyon Waterfall…
The Ogden River Hot Springs was near the waterfall site. I had no intention of going because the reviews were horrible. Noted to have excessive litter to an unhealthy state and it was said to have been dismantled. We walked over and found it to be extensive, relatively clean, and very cool. No soaking but it’s now on the list for a return visit.
We made the long haul out to Richard Smithson’s “Spiral Jetty” on the North end of the Great Salt Lake. A quick and ridiculous stop at the Golden Spike Site that lead to us setting of the alarms at the visitor’s center.
We landed at the Spiral at sunset and the pics say it all and well worth the schlep. It was so much a treat to have a local adventure pal to lead the way and drive and all thoughts of burnout disolved away. And thank you universe and Michelle.
