š Hawaii - Part II - No Quick-Sand to be Found - 02.07.24
From a very young ageā¦ and all of my life sinceā¦ I have been preparing for this. Planning, plottingā¦ mental scenario training. Having the awareness and right equipmentā¦ Iāll have a bull-whip, long bamboo straw, beach whistleā¦ and on and onā¦ AND! All for not! There is NO quick-sand here folksā¦ none! I was lead to believe it would occur and occur often here in the middle of the Pacificā¦ just like Gilliganās Island.
Ifā¦ no noā¦ when Iād get stuck in quick-sand - Iād break out my beach whistle to call out for a wild pig, heād come running, then crack the bull-whip around the pigās tailā¦ boom! Pulled out of the quick-sand by the pig. If thereās no pig, boom! Long bamboo strawā¦ I could breath out of it while I shuffle moonwalk to the end and ease my way outā¦ easy peasy.
I donāt know manā¦ Iām thinking that Gilliganās Island program was not a docudrama to teach us future life lessons at all. I have a lot of questions about that showā¦ a LOT of questions.
Anywho, this was my first trip to any Hawaiian islandā¦ and I spent all of my time on the youngest and the biggestā¦ and supposedly the most chill. I had no expectationsā¦ and itās spectacular. I made my way around it and into the interior and feel I have a sense of what it has to offer.
Thereās much I like and much Iāll return forā¦
Hilo is on the top of my Astro-cartography list of places best for me to have an optimal experience. I think notā¦ itās a little burned outā¦ burnt outā¦ somethingā¦ needs a little TLCā¦ and possibly much less meth.
When Iām in California I notice that there are very few āout of stateā license plates (in Colorado itās like one in five). And in Hawaii I was thinking that thereās no way that Im going to see an āout of stateāā¦. Thenā¦ and thenā¦ I was sitting at a trailhead eating my Poke from the back of my SUV and a car drives by with a Colorado license plate. I stopped the dude and asked āhow does one get their Colorado car to Hawaii?ā He looked perplexed and said āon a boat.ā Okayā¦ I know he didnāt drive it hereā¦ but stillā¦ CO car sitting in Hawaii.
I nearly changed my flight to stay longerā¦ thenā¦ I nearly cancelled my flight to have an extended stay. Thenā¦ I rememberedā¦ I canāt sit still for 10 seconds. Thereās much that I like on this island but Iām quite sure Iām not going to ship my car and dig in. Yetā¦
I picked up a low grade chest cold that didnāt bother me much so I kept goingā¦ and now Iām hopped up on Niquil because it took a turn for the not so funā¦ and now I must rest. I go back to San Diego tomorrow to recoup and miss having Poke daily.
