Canadian Sagas - Part 2 Tofino
The Canadian Sagas - Part 2 - Tofino and the Hobbit house.
Tofino is the official turn around point. The place was put in my ear and then I just had to be there. Expectations are a funny thing… I interpreted from a description something very different than what it was. It’s a vacation/tourist/surf town.
Before I rant on and on… I so need to be a surfer now. Not the next life… but this one. Manifesting now!
I did next to no research on Vancouver Island… I just showed up (like everywhere else). I remember seeing a spot on a program 15 or so years ago on hiking there. And from that I had some expectation of this place being very remote and sparse on population. Nope… it’s summer season and the British Columbians are all over this place. It’s not jam-packed like Yellowstone or Grand Canyon or Wally World… but more than I expected. Filled with families walking around, father first (always looking like there’s a schedule delay), followed by mum (pointing out the obvious), and finally followed by cross-armed teens that have looks of parricide and boredom on their faces. #trustory
It was a last minute decision to find a place and stay in Tofino and I lucked out on the hobbit house cabin. I’m not sure why it was available on this day, seeing it was the height of summer season, it’s 50 meters from the beach, and totally affordable. It’s owned by a German expat and he was super kind and I enjoyed a great conversation on the quality of life equation.
Anywho, ten million billion pictures and this will be the bulk of it and I turn around and head back towards Taos starting tomorrow.
Walks and a sunset moment on Chesterman Beach. Rockfish snacks in Anchor Park in Tofino. Morning Bog trail hIke. Nuu-cha-nulth trail and story. Final stroll on Long Beach. And a final exit up to Port Alberni
In part 3 of the Canada Sagas, I explain how I’ve always thought the cosmos put me in the wrong chute and I should have been born a Canadian.
