“Make your mistakes, take your chances, look silly, but keep on going. Don't freeze up. I have to see a thing a thousand times before I see it once.”

Toluca - I didn’t think I’d ever run through this town again… perhaps I needed to see it a thousand times before I see it the one time in the right light… and this time, good times with La Luss.

The junkie train from Toluca now goes all the way to Terminal Observatorio in CDMx… it’s pretty slick… it drops you at the entrance of Metro Line 1, then a quick shot to Insurgentes station… and the MetroBus… and home.

Lucia, Lucius, Luss… is an intelligent, gothy, rocker, black sheep, wicca… science believer… who claims to be awkward and lacking in social skills. Maybe I’m into awkwardness and unconventional social sensibilities… because I find her to be great company, witty, confident, tranquilo, and easy to chat with (albeit in Spanish).

She brought me to the best pizza joint in Centro… I recognized the chorizo place next door… then look over my shoulder and spot the parking structure for the Diablos Rojos estadio… it’s right in the heart of the angry lion’s den. The pizza was fantastic, which included chorizo from next door. I’m past the 5 week mark post-surgery… so I get to enjoy a michelada or two… and resume exercise, apapachar, and adventure.

Transportation in Toluca/Metepec is vast but complicated. Buses… and many. And good luck… I think you need to be a second generation native to know the system. I had my car here for some past visits… or took a Didi taxi around. But… I have a local with me today… and we find our way across town on the bus.

Toluca, the capital of Estado de México, is filled with more potholes than museums and tourist attractions. Even with the new train line… I don’t think the city is in any danger of over-tourism… it’s a bit boring and difficult to get around… but with positive manifestations, you can find enough to keep you busy. And with good company… you don’t need the sun and the moon to fall into your hands.

Pizza lunch. Lots of chats. One jade Buddha find at an antique shop. We hit two of three museums… and closed the last down at 6 pm. Casual stroll down the street… and hop on the local bus back to the train station to call it a night.

And that concludes today’s adventure… it feels like it’s been awhile… more than a year… having fun… having fun adventures… with nice people.
