🇲🇽 - Roma Norte - Part Duex - 03.10.2026
“I felt his hot tears and the loneliness of man and the sweetness of all men and the aching haunting beauty of the living.”
- John Fante
Me mudé de nuevo…
I returned to Roma Norte… close to my old Orizaba 210 apartment. Although I had my moments in Nápoles… I didn’t click with it. I was always leaving the neighborhood to do things or meet people. Boredom was creeping in… the depressing kind. I figured out it felt like being in the Jefferson County suburbs I grew up in. It’s just not speaking to me.
So… if something is not working… remove yourself… or remove it from your life. Be in a healthy, encouraging, and inspirational environment.
There are a couple/few friends of mine that hate La Roma… but they don’t have to live there… and they never visit anyway. I’m on the south end of Roma Norte near MedellĂn Market. It suits my vibration… my bohemian ethos. It has character… cool energy… funky things… with familiar peeps… and it brings a smile to my face to get greetings as I patrol. I am quite happy to be in the neighborhood again.
Most of my things are still sitting in Texas… but I have more than I can carry with me. I received some appreciated help from VeriVeri. And I didn’t even feel lightly emasculated as she carried my 10 liter bottle of water from Sumesa, past the diners at the restaurant below my apartment, then up three flights of stairs… as I carried two donuts. And it’s good to be me.
I’m closing a chapter of months of surreal unpleasantness… bad decisions, excessive cortisol, illness, and slow post-surgery recovery. I’ve now turned a corner physically and there are all kinds of natural feel-good chemicals flowing. I’m gaining my strength back… and with a new perspective… and a relaxed urgency to grasp at all moments that life affords.
If you want to hear the full story of this and that, with sound effects, and hand gestures… meet me at the Falling Piano on Calle Coahuila in the ultra hip Roma Norte for chelas and snacks. 🇲🇽🍺🌮
