🇺🇸 Jack London State Park, Glen Ellen, CA - 07.13.2026
It’s a lovely 1,400 historic site with 30 miles of hiking trails that Jack London worked and lived… it’s $15 to drive you car through that gate. I get annoyed every time I need to pay $ to walk in nature.
London was an adventurer and died at the age of 40 from a kidney issues, likely as a result of his lifestyle. It’s young… but he was driven… and churned out much work.
I found London’s, “White Fang” at a thrift store a few weeks ago for 50¢… it’s still sitting in the front seat of my car.
“I would rather be ashes than dust!
I would rather that my spark should burn out in a brilliant blaze than it should be stifled by dry-rot.
I would rather be a superb meteor, every atom of me in magnificent glow, than a sleepy and permanent planet.
The function of man is to live, not to exist.
I shall not waste my days trying to prolong them.
I shall use my time.”
