🇺🇸 Taos - The Road Back to… - 05.28.2026

I had mixed feelings coming back to Taos… I had anxiously left there two years ago, in a hurry, in the winter cold and snow… and I couldn’t escape fast enough… but leaving the junkie mess of Albuquerque and getting into Embudo Canyon along the Rio Grande… in the Spring time… I was feeling it… good feels.

I drove through downtown Taos and headed straight to Arroyo Secco for lunch… there’s a food truck called the Taos Cow… and they have the best BLT sandwich. I crave that thing… and often. I sat out back next to the acequia and ate. Peaceful, green, birds… and I’m feeling the magic of Northern New Mexico again…

Having those good feels, instead of my negative impressions when I left, gives me a vast appreciation for what I had here, and experiences, and the people.

After lunch I drove back to downtown to my old studio… it’s a glorious space. Historic, next to the Harwood museum. It was a gift to live there and be part of the artist lineage… it was like a fairytale.

I dropped into Omni Humm Gallery to pick up some of my artwork from Nicole that’s been sitting there for 2 years. Some quick catch up chats and now I have more paintings in my hands to sell.

I pinged Dharma Stephanie and she invited me over for chats, hugs and pizza… I gave her a bird painting… just because it needs a good home and she’s a good being. I haven’t talked that much to another person in my language for quite awhile… my neck was sore later that evening from chatting som much. I love it.

Ojo Caliente Hot Springs is one of my favorite places on planet earth… it was the leading factor for this visit. I found a farm stay near there and did the hour drive… and then completed my evening with a sunset soak at the springs. It’s one of happy places.

today I’m visiting Juniper at the Harwood Museum and hopefully catch Janelle before I head back to ABQ to load a moving truck and begin the drive to West Coast…

To be continued…

With this visit, I’m reminded of the richness of the people I have met and know in New Mexico… the places, the moments, the experiences, the adventures…

I’ve come across a number of eclectic, interesting, and funky people here… and the following is past fotos and a touch of the stories of the souls I encountered.
